URBANDALE, Iowa — A Johnston man is in the Polk County Jail after police say he caused damage after driving through a cemetery drunk.

Justin Nicolet, 22, is charged with operating while intoxicated and first degree criminal mischief. His bond is set at $26,000.

Urbandale police were called to the McDivitt Cemetery at 7001 Meredith Drive early Sunday morning after tire tracks and damaged gravestones were noticed. Nicolet was found in a vehicle in a ditch nearby.

At least four gravestones were damaged.

The total damage at the cemetery is estimated at around $12,000.
