AMES, Iowa — Trick or Treat night, also known as Beggar’s Night, will take place next Monday night. but in Ames this afternoon Halloween 2016 kicks off.
However, in Ames Thursday afternoon, Halloween 2016 kicks off.
Some 25 businesses in the Somerset neighborhood are opening their doors and filling the candy bowls for neighborhood kids.
“Somerset is really really taking off, it’s really growing and what makes it exciting, is there are so many different businesses around here,” said Lindsey Bartholomew, who organized the businesses in the event. “There’s a lot of neighborhoods around here with families, and that’s why we thought this would be a great event.”
This is the second year Trick or Treat has been held in the area. Last year, they hoped for 100 kids to show up, and over 140 came out.
This year the event runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Ames’ city-wide Beggar’s Night is Monday, Oct. 31st.
