WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- For 108 years it was simply impossible to manufacture.

"That's a long time. That's well before my time," said Jon Denney of Ankeny.

But, a crowd gathered at Scheels in West Des Moines' Jordan Creek Mall to see if it was true, and thanks to a breakthrough in science, or a curse, it's now a reality.

"The jinx is done with. The curse is off," said Denney.

The World Series championship shirts are in. There are short sleeve and long sleeve shirts for the now loveable winners. All made their arrival Thursday in Iowa and fans jumped at the chance to grab one, or several.

Julie Stone came all the way from Ames and said, "Oh the gear is so exciting."

Denney was the first at Scheels to own a piece of history. He said, "Pretty exciting. This here is for my daughter actually. She'll be ecstatic to see that."

It was a clear free-for-all but remained civil, said Stone.

"Well it was nerve-racking because you are scared everyone is going to grab but Cubs fans are so nice.  Who’s going to tackle someone for a World Series shirt?" said Stone.

Fans are just happy the Cubs finally tackled a World Series title in their lifetime.

"Every Cubs fan I'm sure was thinking, oh no here we go again, but they were able to pull it out and make a lot of people's hopes and dreams come true,” said Stone.

Dreams they can now hold on to and wear comfortably forever.

Eric Dyjak of Ankeny said, "It still feels like it's not real. I'm able to replace all of my stuff and actually have World Series championship gear on there now."
