DES MOINES, Iowa -- While millions celebrated the Cubs World Series title in Chicago, a smaller crowd with the same passion rejoiced at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.   "The Cubs were mom`s love, obviously along with her family," said Phil Johnson of Urbandale.  Phil's mother, Georgia Anne Johnson, was a Cubs fan through and through.  "She would talk to the T.V. as if they could hear her and that alone was the best memory," said Georgia's granddaughter Elyse Wigg.

Despite losing her battle with cancer in 2015, the family is certain she had a hand in the recent win.  Phil spoke to his mother's gravestone before the celebration saying, "It would've been nice if you were here but we know you are up there.  I just have one question, why did you make it go seven games and extra innings?" he said with a laugh.

At her gravestone, the iconic 'W' , a cubs flag, stickers and roses, a lot of Roses.  "We laid down 108 roses to symbolize the drought ending because it's been 108 years since the C won," said Elyse.  The thought of celebrating without her never crossed their minds. "I love the Cubs but especially for my grandma.  Knowing what it would mean to her and for my family and how far they've come.  It got to be really stressful but on that last out, the happiest moment in a really long time," said Elyse.

The celebration may have been long overdue, but definitely worth the wait. "Everybody in the family loved mom.  They loved the Cubs and it was just part of the family."

Georgia's sisters and other family members across the country were also cheering for the Cubs and celebrating in her honor.
