DES MOINES, Iowa — People in the metro are being asked to watch out for another scam.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says several customers in the area are receiving spam e-mails. The e-mails say that the USPS attempted to deliver a package but was unable to do so. It then instructs them to click on a link to print a delivery label, which they can take to the post office and pick up their package.
Then the link is clicked, the recipient’s computer gets a malicious virus.
The USPS says it does not contact customers this way.
They are asking that if you receive such an e-mail, don’t click on the link it contains but instead forward it to email@example.com.
