Ottumwa Man Arrested in Attempted Murder of Teen

OTTUMWA, Iowa – An 18-year-old Ottumwa man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old.

Ottumwa police say a 16-year-old was dropped off at the hospital Tuesday night around 7:50, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was in critical condition and has been transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City for treatment.

Officials have not released the name of the victim.

Early Wednesday morning police arrested Venhure Tsegay in the case. He is charged with attempted murder.

Tsegay is being held in the Wapello County Jail on a bond of $25,000.
