DES MOINES, IA - Right now the star of the Blank Park Zoo is its two month old baby black rhino; but the little, or not-so-little, girl doesn't have a name yet.

The zoo is now turning to the community's help to name the critically endangered animal. For a $50 donation you can submit a name on the Blank Park Zoo's website.

At the end of December the top names will be chosen and then put to an online vote.

The zoo asks that like her parents, the suggestions come in Swahili, the native language of the area in Africa where these rhinos come from.

“Mom and dad are both named Swahili names; we have Ayana and Kiano now.  Ayana means beautiful flower in Swahili and I believe Kiano means full of joy. So we're trying to stick with the African Swahili theme,” said zookeeper Robyn Scanlon.

The zoo has put an English to Swahili translator tool on their website to make it easy.

The zookeepers who work with the family of rhinos are telling everyone a little about the young one's personality to help the creative process.

“She's got a lot more energy than she used to which is awesome, she loves running around, wallowing in the mud is her favorite thing to do, she also really enjoys this tire right here, she figured out she can lift the end up so she lifts ends of tires and likes to roll around,” said Scanlon.

There are only around 800 eastern black rhinos in the wild right now, and only 60 in captivity.

The zoo hopes that in a few years the parents will be able to breed again and help grow the population.

For those looking to keep the viral trend going, the zoo has already said they will not be considering Rhino McRhinoface.
