Hawkeyes Heading To Outback Bowl

IOWA CITY, Iowa  --  Hawkeye fans pack your swim suits, you're heading to Tampa.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have been selected to play in the Outback Bowl against the Florida Gators on January 2nd, 2017.  The game will kickoff at Noon Iowa time that day.

This will be the 5th appearance  in the Outback Bowl for the Hawkeyes, all under head coach Kirk Ferentz.  They are 2-2 in the first four games.  Their last trip to Tampa came in 2014 when they lost 21-14 to LSU.  The last time they faced Florida was 2006, Urban Meyer was coaching the Gators.

Iowa has lost 4 straight bowl games, their last bowl win came in 2010 at the Insight Bowl.

The Hawkeyes finished with an 8-4 record, winning their last 3 games against Michigan, Illinois and Nebraska.

Florida lost in the SEC title game to #1 Alabama 54-16.
