CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The University of Northern Iowa is on the verge of a major announcement.

The Iowa Board of Regents will appoint a new university president Tuesday. Each candidate will go before the board for an interview then the regents will make their decision.

The finalists are Mark Nook, Jim Wohlpart, and Neil Theobald. Wohlpart is currently serving as UNI’s interim president.

The candidate pool did prompt some concerns about diversity, since all candidates are white males. That same issue has been true in the regents’ last four presidential searches.

Tuesday’s meeting is closed to the public.
