POLK COUNTY, Iowa – Officials have released the name of a woman who died following a domestic disturbance Monday.

Deputies were called to a home in the 3200 block of NE Aurora just after 7:00 a.m. Monday. Nineteen-year-old Katelynn Gould of Urbandale was found in the home, suffering from injuries. Emergency medical crews provided treatment on the scene but she passed away before she could be transported to a hospital.

A man who was originally at the home when deputies arrived, 31-year-old Nickolas Pettinger, has been charged with first degree murder in the case. He took off on foot when law enforcement arrived at the home but was later found in the area after a search by a Polk County K-9 and Des Moines Police.

Pettinger is being held in the Polk County Jail.  He made his first appearance in jail court Tuesday morning.
