ALGONA, Iowa- The Chocolate Season Shop in Algona has been awarded the state Small Business Development Center's award as the "Business of the Month" for the State of Iowa.

Erika Jensen and her husband Brad, moved the business from where it was founded in Omaha, as an online operation, to Erika's hometown of Algona.

"I really like the idea of giving people European-inspired artisan chocolate," said Jensen. "We kept thinking of things that would make people happier what doesn't make people happy but chocolate and coffee and then we start doing lunch."

These days Jensen has help with making candy, packing and shipping all over the United States, via her online business  The store is also busy with people coming for coffee, and chocolate.

"Right now it's a little frazzling, we're doing a ton of shipping we ship nationwide we do online orders we have a Facebook, Instagram, people contact us any which way.

She got the inspiration for this type of business from her Grandmother, a farm wife who backed love into everything, be it brown bread, or cookies, "you knew she loved you," said Jensen.

The SBDC recognized Jensen's efforts for " taking an online business, and turning it into a flourishing brick and mortar store."
