Drake Hangs Around, but Iowa State Pulls Away for the Win

DES MOINES - The 2nd game of the Hy-Vee Classic turned out to be the closest, despite Iowa State coming in as a 20 point favorite.

The Cyclones beat Drake 97-80 Saturday night, but the game was much closer than the final score shows.  Naz Mitrou-Long scored a game high 37 points while Monte Morris added 20 for ISU.

Billy Wampler led the way with 23 for Drake while Reed Timmer added 15.

Iowa State only led by 2 at the half and actually trailed in the 2nd half, but the Clones pulled away in the final 5 minutes for the win.

Iowa State improves to 7-3 on the year, Drake falls to 1-9.  The Cyclones are back in action Tuesday night against Mississippi Valley State, Drake  hosts South Dakota State on Monday.
