DES MOINES, Iowa  —  Three people are in the hospital following an early morning shooting in Des Moines.

The incident took place in the 1300 block of East 13th Street around 3 a.m. on Monday. Two men and one female were injured following a dispute with another person. Their injuries are non-life-threatening.

Authorities believe the suspect and victims know each other, but add that may be a reason why the victims are not cooperating with police.

“We wish we had a crystal ball where we could just look in it and solve these problems, but we need the community’s participation,” said Sergeant Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department. “And when we have uncooperative witnesses, it slows everything down, it backs up our case load, and it doesn’t do any service to the community. Because we have people tell us, I don’t wanna talk because I’m afraid something’s gonna happen to me, well the best way you can prevent that is help us put the dangerous people in jail.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact police.
