UNITED STATES  --  There's some good news for areas hit by storms and disasters this year.

The Senate has broken a Republican filibuster of a large disaster relief bill that sends $36.5 billion in response to recent hurricanes and ongoing wildfires in California and other western states.

Final passage of the legislation is expected by Wednesday.
