IOWA  — Iowa utility customers could now face disconnection for unpaid bills, however help is still available.

April 1st marks the end of the moratorium on utility disconnection under Iowa’s Low Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP).  However the program is still accepting applications for help paying bills until April 30th.

The program prevents low-income customers from being disconnected due to non-payment.  MidAmerican Energy urges customers who are behind on their utility bills to contact them as soon as possible to discuss options.
