Police respond to report of dog attacking woman in 3200 block of E. Clinton. (WHO-HD)

DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines police were forced to shoot and kill a dog that attacked its owner Friday.

It happened around noon at 3210 E. Clinton. Police say the dog attacked its 49-year-old female owner, causing serious injuries to the woman’s arm.

The 911 call said the pit bull charged a police officer when they arrived at the scene, forcing the officer to shoot it.

The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
