Man Hospitalized After Being Robbed and Shot in Des Moines

Police were called to the 1,000 block of East Seneca Avenue around 3 p.m. on the report of a shooting.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called to the 1,000 block of East Seneca Avenue around 3 p.m.

Police said a 59-year-old man was robbed and shot in the abdomen near his home. He was taken to the hospital for surgery and is expected to survive, according to police.

A suspect is still being searched for at this time.

Police immediately had a K-9 team searching, but it was soon called off due to the heavy rain wich rendered the dogs useless.
