  • IOWANS HELPING: Crews Arrive In New York

    The third wave of Alliant Energy crews arrived in New York Tuesday.  The first wave left for New York on October 28th, and many of those workers are still there.  Approximately 205 Alliant energy workers from Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota have responded to the east coast following Hurricane Sandy.  The latest group of 63, including 34 workers from Iowa, will be in the area around West Hempstead, NY working on the natural gas system.   • MISSING TEEN: Police Involved Shooting

    DCI is investigating a police-involved shooting in Hardin County.  Just after 2:35 Friday afternoon, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at 22626 I Ave in rural Hubbard.  Whole officials were attempting to apprehend the alleged shooter, Sheriff Timothy Smith confronted a 17-year-old.  Police say the 17-year-old allegedly raised a weapon toward Sheriff Smith and refused to drop the weapon.  Sheriff Smith shot the 17-year-old who was immediately air-lifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.  His condition is […]

  • STATE SWIMMING: Record Setting Meet

    The Girls State Swimming and Diving Meet is underway in Marshalltown. It starts with a record-breaking night on the board. Maggie James becomes just the third diver to score more than 500 points.  The Ames Little Cyclone won her second-consecutive diving title.  James’ 512 points is the third highest total in state history, and she’s just a sophomore. Valley’s Julie Dickinson came in second. Valley leads after the first night. Ames is in second.
