DES MOINES, Iowa — Dozens of country music fans were in for a bit of an unexpected surprise when they arrived at  Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday evening.

About 40 people showed up to Garth Brooks’ 7 p.m. concert when realized their tickets were for Friday’s early show.

The thing is, they didn’t realize it until it was too late.

Iowa Events Center General Manager, Chris Connolly says when Brooks announced he was going on tour in Des Moines, the first tickets to go on sale were for Saturday. The second show to go on sale was for Friday night. The rapid release of the new show times made it confusing for some people making purchases through online ticket companies.

Connolly calls the snafu a “user error.”

According to officials with the Garth Brooks tour, the mistake is common due to the nature of Brooks’ style of rolling out multiple shows in a city at once. They say fans are eager to buy a seat but sometimes do not look closely at their purchase.

Don’t worry, the fans weren’t sent home empty handed. The Iowa Events Center provided the fans with a ticket to the Saturday evening late show.

Brooks began his six-concert tour on Friday and it will end on Tuesday. More than 80,000 tickets were sold.
