The Animal Rescue League says it’s looking for experienced bird owners to adopt dozens of exotic birds removed from a Des Moines home earlier this month.

The ARL has been caring for 55-birds, four cats, and a python since December 5th. They were taken from Steven Vogel’s home after he opened fire on a south-side neighborhood.

He was eventually shot and killed by officers.

Starting Tuesday, 49 of those birds are up for adoption. The application process ends this Thursday at 7 p.m.

An application and special adoption requirements can be found on the ARL’s website.
