Five People Injured in Des Moines Crash

DES MOINES, Iowa – One person has been arrested in connection with a three-vehicle crash that injured five people on Thursday.Five people have been transported to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash in Des Moines.

Fernando Aguilar, 18, has been charged with three counts of serious injury by reckless driving, operating without a driver’s license and driving without insurance.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Southeast 6th Street and Bell Avenue. Police said Agular was driving westbound at a high rate of speed when the vehicle he was driving struck a northbound pickup truck. The crash sent the pickup airborne and into an SUV.

Five people were taken to area hospitals. Three of those people were listed in critical condition Thursday evening.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
