DES MOINES, Iowa -- A group of Iowans is hoping its questionnaire is a priority for potential presidential candidates.

Iowans 4 Medical Cannabis wants to know where the presidential candidates stand on medical marijuana.

“Moms and dads across the America want to know what presidential candidates are proposing to help the sick and suffering obtain medical cannabis,” says Maria La France of Des Moines.

The group released four questions they want every candidate to answer about their plans to help people get access to medical cannabis.

The questions include what a candidates views are on rescheduling cannabis, removing criminal penalties for people using it to treat illnesses, and supporting a bill that would separately define marijuana and cannabidiol.

“Hopefully voter pressure and more public outcry will make them start to answer these questions and give thoughtful dialogue. They need to see the suffering of Americans and be willing to help,” says Sally Gaer of West Des Moines.

Its medicine this group says works.

La France gives her son Quincy, who suffers from seizures, a form of cannabis oil and is already seeing results.

“We found an oil that CO2 extracted and very concentrated that he is able to do very well on. He`s been on that for three weeks now and we`ve seen a nice improvement in his seizures.”

La France breaks the law every time she drives to Colorado to get the oil. It’s a risk some families just can’t take.

“I work for myself so I have less inhibition if you will and I’m able to afford to drive and make the drive but it is still very stressful.”

La France is hoping federal change will grant equal access for everyone and that starts by finding out where each candidate stands.

“We want this issue talked about, it`s the dialogue that will solve the problem.”

Iowans 4 Medical Cannabis is mailing out the questionnaire to all the candidates and also will hand deliver them to candidates as they make stops in Iowa.
