Police Investigating Possible Shooting at Coral Ridge Mall

CORALVILLE, Iowa – One person is dead and another in custody after a shooting Friday inside Iowa’s second-largest mall.

KCRG reports that the Iowa Department of Public Safety confirmed one person died in a shooting at Coral Ridge Mall.

A mall employee told Channel 13 that the mall entrances are closed. They said that they heard three gunshots near the carousel inside the mall.

Gov. Terry Branstad’s spokesman, Jimmy Centers said in a tweet that the suspect is in custody and that the public is not believed to be in further danger.


The Iowa Department of Public Safety confirmed that a suspect is in custody.

Iowa State Troopers were able to locate the suspect on Interstate 80. Iowa State Trooper Dan Loussaert said on twitter that the suspect was stopped on the interstate near highway 61.

The Press-Citizen reports, a witness told them a mall security officer who had been fired earlier in the day shot a teenage girl.
