DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa State Head Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg did it. So did Iowa native and actor Ashton Kutcher. Now, the Ice Bucket Challenge has entered Iowa politics.

Third District Republican Congressional candidate David Young, of Van Meter, posted a video Monday taking the challenge, where a person dumps a bucket of ice on his head in efforts to promote awareness of A.L.S. or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The person accepting the challenge then challenges another person to do the Ice Bucket Challenge, and then that person challenges someone else and so on.

Young chose not to challenge his Democratic opponent, Staci Appel, of Ackworth. Instead, he challenged three other Republicans: Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann, Second District Congressional candidate Mariannette Miller-Meeks, of Ottumwa, and attorney general candidate Adam Gregg, of Johnston.

Gregg accepted the challenge. He then challenged Democratic Attorney General Tom Miller.
