DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa business leaders held a roundtable on Wednesday to discuss the goal of choosing a candidate who will represent their interests.

“We have such a huge opportunity with the Iowa caucuses happening Monday night to make sure that people are aware that the decisions that we make through this political process impact businesses and us as Iowans,” said Tiffany Tauscheck of the Greater Des Moines Partnership.

The Iowa Caucus Consortium was a roundtable of Iowa CEOs. Iowa’s industries were represented, including agriculture, healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, and financial sectors.

Among the key issues discussed were jobs, the price of oil, and immigration.

The president of DMACC says another big issue is online protection.

“I think the issue of cyber security, we got a large it program and we are running boot camps, every business regardless of the type needs IT professionals,” Rob Denson said. “Of course, cyber security is a big issue. I think that is the thing that keeps me up most of the time is worrying about DMACC but all the companies that we are working with that they get the people that they need.”

Denson added that DMACC already works closely with business leaders to make sure its curriculum prepares students for jobs in Iowa.
