DES MOINES, Iowa – Traffic on southbound I-35 in Ankeny was backed up for miles Monday morning due to an accident.
Sgt. Nate Ludwig with the Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened a little before 7:45 a.m. and involved a dump truck and a passenger car. The dump truck was following too closely and rear-ended a car.
The driver of the car was trapped and emergency crews used mechanical means to free them. Once out of the vehicle, the driver refused medical treatment.
The road was blocked while crews worked to clear the accident. All lanes of traffic were re-opened shortly before 8:50 a.m.
