Paula Sunday from the Iowa Animal Rescue League stopped by to answer pet owners' questions.

Sunday said the biggest thing pet owners worry about this time of year is pet stress around the holidays.   Sunday said the best thing to do if your animal gets stressed when you have people over for the holidays is to give your pet an escape route.  If your pet shows signs of stress, let them escape into a different room or spend a few minutes outside.  Be sure to take the time to pet them and help them relax.

Sunday said pet owners need to be particularly careful letting animals outside during the winter months.  Pets will want to drink or eat the snow, which is bad for their health.  Pet owners also need to carefully monitor the temperatures as many are too dangerous this time of year for pets to be outside longer than five minutes.
