OMAHA, Nebraska – The preseason finale for both the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks Thursday night will afford fans in Omaha and the surrounding area the unique chance to see two players they remember very well from their early playing days.
Former Creighton All-American Doug McDermott, who is entering his third season with the Bulls and second under head coach Fred Hoiberg, returns to CenturyLink Center Omaha to matchup with another former Blue Jay, NBA veteran and Hawks forward Kyle Korver.
The reunion will also be a matchup between two former central Iowa high school stars as McDermott played for Ames High School from 2006-2010 and Korver played for Pella High School from 1995-99.
“I feel like I’ve played pretty well this preseason and I'm just going to continue to build on it,” McDermott said. “It’s good to end it at home.”
Despite Korver entering his 13th season in the NBA and logging over 25,000 minutes on the court, the three-point specialist feels he's ready for another long campaign.
“I feel like I’ve been shooting baskets for a lot of years,” Korver said. “I’m grateful. I don’t know where I’m at in my career but I still feel good and have the energy to put in the work that you need to do to be ready for the season."
The Bulls and Hawks tip-off at 7 p.m. CT Thursday.
