Missed Opportunities Cost Iowa State, Cyclones Fall to Kansas State 31-26

AMES – Once again Iowa State had a chance for a big win on Saturday, but missed opportunities cost the Cyclones against Kansas State.

Jacob Park threw for 301 yards and 2 TD’s, while Freshman WR Deshaunte Jones caught 2 TD passes.  Joel Lanning led the way on the ground rushing for 74 yards and a TD.  Allen Lazard had 8 catches for 134 yards in the loss.

Trailing 17-3 in the 2nd quarter Park hit a wide open Trever Ryen in stride for a sure-fire TD, but Ryen dropped it, and ISU went in to half trailing by 14.

In the 4th Q trailing 31-17 the Cyclones had 4th and goal from the 1, Park rolled out, had David Montgomery wide open in front of him just a few yards away, but overthrew the pass, which resulted in a turnover of downs.

Iowa State outgained Kansas State by almost 100 yards, but they missed too many opportunities to make the big play.

The Cyclones fall to 1-7, up next a date with Oklahoma Thursday November 3rd at Jack Trice Stadium.
